Assembling and Installing Your Floating Shelf for Nex Playground
You Will Need:
Electric Drill with Phillips head bit or Phillips head screwdriver.
Black Permanent Marker
Installing the Wall Plate Using Drywall Anchors (recommended for most walls):
Break the Shelf Supports Loose. Gently twist the shelf supports until the thin, wood tabs holding them in place break. Use a black marker to touch up any resulting exposed, unpainted wood that you are worried may be visible.
Hold the Wall Plate up to your wall and figure out where you want to mount it. Make Sure to leave enough room between the top of the Wall Plate for your Nex console to fit comfortably underneath the TV. Once you have decided where you want to mount it, use a marker through the round holes to mark the centers of the holes. Pull the wall plate away from the wall, and you should have 2 dots marked on the wall for the 2 screw holes.
Use an electric drill with Phillips head bit or a Phillips head screwdriver to drive the plastic portion of the wall anchor into the wall. The plastic anchors are self-drilling, so you do not need to pre-drill a pilot hole. Stop when the flat face of the anchor is flush with your wall. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Hold the Wall Plate back in place and screw the 2 metal screws into the plastic anchors until the flat face of the screw head is nearly flush with the face of the wood wall plate. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
Installing the Wall Plate Using Adhesive Strip (recommended for tile/smooth stone walls):
Break the Shelf Supports Loose. Gently twist the shelf supports until the thin, wood tabs holding them in place break. Use a black marker to touch up any resulting exposed, unpainted wood that you are worried may be visible.
Wipe down the back of the Wall Plate and the portion of your wall where you intend to stick the plate so that it is free of dust and oil. It’s recommended to use lightly damp cloth.
Stick the adhesive strip to the back of your wall plate at the top and center of the plate (on top of the rounded-rectangle portion protruding from the back).
Stick the other side of the the adhesive strip to your wall by firmly pressing it to the wall. Make sure that you have it positioned exactly how you want it before you let the adhesive come in contact with the wall because if you try to peel it off and try again, it will not stick as well the second time.
Assembling the Rest of the Shelf
Attach the 2 Shelf Supports to the Shelf Plate by sliding the hooked tabs on the Shelf Support into the rectangular slots on the Shelf Plate.
Attach these 3 pieces from the previous step to the Wall Plate by sliding the remaining 4 shelf support tabs into the rectangular slots on the Wall Plate.
Hook your HDMI and power cables to your Nex. Depending on which direction your cables are going, you may want to route one or both of them through the rectangular slot at the back of the shelf before you plug them into the Nex.
Place your Nex on the shelf with the yellow pad on the bottom of the console nesting into the large, square hole in the shelf. This will lock it in place so that the console cannot slide off in any direction. Place the remote on the remote hooks built-in to the shelf supports.
